An effective business proposal is a well-written proposal. But not in the manner of a novel! Discover some good practices.
Reading a business proposal can be tedious. As in journalism, it is essential to capture and retain the attention of one's reader. First in the way of structuring its contents, going from the essential to the particular. Don't lose your drive in context, go straight to the point from the first lines. Then in the way of structuring sentences: a sentence must be short and contain a single flagship idea. The style should be simple: prohibit as much as possible the relative pronouns (who, what, what...), the passive voice and negative formulas (do not).
Simple and precise words In journalism, it is often said that a six-year-old must understand the essentials of an article. It is therefore appropriate to use known words and avoid jargon. Also run away from acronyms and abbreviations (or explain them!). To avoid ambiguity, the most precise and concrete words should be used.
A harmonized style throughout the proposal
A fluid proposal, pleasant to read, meets the same rules from start to finish: harmonize the time used. For a dynamic style, focus on the use of the present. For the same concept, use the same word (choose for example between "service" and "department"). When you talk about your business, choose between 3E singular person and 2E plural. The use of "us" and "you" to designate your company and that of your customer has the advantage of providing an impression of proximity and modernity. Also think about the visual aspect of your text: never write a full word in capital letters, even the name of your company, and only put capital letters when it is imposed by the spelling, i.e. the proper names.
